I think this will be the death of MSN and the life

of Windows Live Explorer. I can tell by the icon

 mix (which looks pretty ugly together unless you

 move them in the right places). I had the program mess

 up on me 3 times after installation, but everything is

 running smoothly now. Some icons have been changed and

 a new search has been added to the dashboard. Phishing,

Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006(Replacing Picture It!)

and MSN Photo Explorer has been added to the browser.

 Some minor fixes as well. No tabs yet! I guess we have to

 wait until MSN... I mean Windows Live Explorer to see

 major changes. I recommend the upgrade to any MSN

Premium user. It's a little better looking and faster with

 the Messenger built back in.

I expected more, but I guess I have to wait until the

 next major GM to be released.

Great job, MSN/Live!

After 5 years of development, Vista is finally finished!
Jim Allchin, the co-president of Microsoft's Platforms & Services Division has put together a video about the announcement where he announces the General Availability (GA) date of 30 January 2007 for Vista.

A little while ago, we have spoken about Everaldo and his work. He is preparing a new set of Crystal icons which will contains more than 500 new icons. The development of the pack is going to come to an end, we had the luck to obtain the jewel so precious which is going to follow after Crystal Clear.

So we have discovered without bad surprise Crystal Project.
First reaction : "Oooohhhh, it's beautiful!"
Second reaction : "Cool, the icons' size is of 256x256, they are compatible with Windows Vista"
Third reaction : "It's quite different than previous pack !"

Yes... that changes ! Crystal Project forsakes the style "fun" and sometimes "childish" of the old packs Crystal GT / SVG / Clear, to a style more serious and professional. Certain nostalgic persons can regret this style "fun", but the change is necessary, and the result is here : perfect icons, an even more pushed brilliancy, and even more precise details !

Nostalgic or not, we can only congratulate the accomplished work. As usual, the pack will be free, use by KDE, Linspire and a future Bricopack.

For the moment, we have no precise date of release... Oops, I was going to forget, we like make you slaver, so here is a preview !

Due to me being incredibly busy with other stuff, I decided to release the current version of AveDesk 2 as a "beta" for everyone.



Stuff Implemented

• UI has been cleared up: using the XP font now everywhere, tooltips, etc
• Proper lighting for the rotation effect
• AvailableDesklets API (eg. for widgetdock)
• Add-a-desklet dialog
• bunch of new APIs
• debug console [herd]

Bugs killed
Rendering
- fixed a bug where rotated layers would not be fully rendered. [ave]

ShowCase
- fixed so-called "ghost desklets" bug. [ave]
- fixed bug with desklets not showing up when animation was enabled.[ave]
- fixed closebutton going behind the desklet bug [ave]

Installer
- newly installed fonts from AveInst-files will now be reconized by desklets: All desklets will be restarted automatically to make the fonts visible to GDI+. [ave]

Main
- fixed threading issue in main rendering routine, making avedesk crash. [ave]
- hotkeys now finally work. [herd]
- tray icon now reappears properly when explorer.exe reloads. [herd]
- control panel will now be reactivated when it's visible but not the
front window. [ave]
- fixed threading issue with IDesklet:bjectModel implementation. [herd]

Controls

Windows Media Player 11 is really a huge improvement over Windows Media Player 10. Managing your library is made easier by using graphics all over around. It existed already longer for Windows Vista, but now it has also been leaked for Windows XP.

I'm unsure as to post the link as it was "leaked" and therefore could be considered warez.

Unless I get the ok from the admin/mod team here, I won't post the link.
